A normal human ear should be able to hear sound frequencies ranging between 20 to 20000 hertz. A normal person should be able to hear any sound above 25 dB (decibel). If that is not the case, then it could be considered a case of hearing loss or hearing impairment, which needs to be attended to. The type of hearing loss which has happened also determines the degree of the Hearing Loss or Hearing Impairment. Conductive Hearing Loss :

Sensorineural Hearing Loss:
The Sensorineural hearing loss is caused owing to damage of the Auditory nerve or disorders in the inner ear. This is permanent type of problem and depending on the degree this type of Hearing Loss is rectifiable only with the use of Hearing Aid Devices.
Mixed Hearing Loss:
A combination of both the Conductive as well as Sensorineural Hearing Loss is known as Mixed Hearing Loss. Appropriate Hearing Aides may be used by the Audiologist to rectify such type of Hearing Loss.

Now that you are aware to some extent about the basic hearing loss types and symptoms of Hearing Loss. You should also know which expert to visit for hair loss treatment. There may be a ENT specialist and an audiologist. Normally your General Physician may refer you to an ENT Specialist, if scope of treatment for the hearing loss is beyond him or her. In case of certain ear infections or other ear conditions like accumulation of earwax, dizziness, etc. the ENT Specialist may prescribe medicines. But he or she does not generally conduct hearing or audiological evaluations. The testing of hearing conditions is in most cases conducted by the Audiologist. There are various kinds of hearing conditions, like Tone Audiometry (PTA), Tympanometry, Pure Tone testing, Tests for the middle ear, Auditory Brainstem Response, Otoacoustic emissions etc. It may so happen that based on the results of the tests conducted by the Audiologist, the ENT Specialist may carry out the hearing Loss treatment. He may decide to carry out the treatment through medication or through surgery. For many cases Hearing Aids are recommended for rectifying the hearing Impairment.
